Ratings for American Idol are down this year, and the show may lose it’s #1 spot. In January, the show was drawing more than 33 million viewers, but last Tuesday’s show was down to 21.25 million. “Dancing With the Stars” has consistently brought in around 21 million viewers each week, and may soon top “Idol” in the ratings.
Last night on “Dancing”, Marissa Jaret Winokur was sent packing, leaving Kristi Yamaguchi, Jason Taylor and Cristian de la Fuente in the top three.
SATC movie is a little more than two weeks away. You can find spoilers online, but you won’t find them here (I want to be as surprised as everyone else). Following the London premiere, here’s what the critics had to say.
Britian’s “Daily Telegraph” calls SATC “coarse, sentimental and outrageously materialistic – just as we hoped and expected it would be.”
The Times of London says the film is “a never ending dinner party: however pleasant the courses, after a while you can hardly eat another one….None of these problems seemed apparent to the women who sat around me…laughing and weeping.”
Mariah Carey was on Ellen yesterday discussing her marriage to Nick Cannon. Never fear if you weren’t invited to the ceremony, Nick wants to have a wedding with Mariah every year. She also told Ellen that they designed each other’s rings.
Last night Mariah and Nick rented out Six Flags Magic Mountain in Cali for a “wedding reception”. The park closed at 6 and Mariah arrived in a Rolls Royce at 8. Sounds fun, but can you imaging Mariah the diva getting her hair and makeup messed up on an amusement park ride?
David Archuleta is defending his dad being banned from “American Idol” behind-the-scenes. He says that it’s a “bummer” and “I think I, of all people, would know what’s going on, and he’s been great. He’s given me a lot of good advice and helped me from making any dumb decisions. He understands more than anyone what I want in music.”
Meanwhile, sources say Jeff Archuleta was giving Nigel Lythgoe (“Idol” executive producer) the stink eye at last night’s performance show. He also looked like he was going to lose it when Lythgoe got excited with David Cook’s performances. Jeff talked to Randy and Paula during commercials, but wouldn’t give Simon the time of day. Songwriter Diane Warren returned the favor when Jeff tried to get her attention in the audience.
ABC’s fall lineup won’t see many changes…only four new shows. They include “Life on Mars” (a time-traveling police drama) and reality show “Opportunity Knocks” where contestants answer questions on their doorstep. “Scrubs” will make the jump to ABC for it’s final season, and “Boston Legal” will see its fifth and final season.
Oprah decided not to bring back “Oprah’s Big Give”, and ABC decided not to bring back “Big Shots”, “Carpoolers”, “Cashmere Mafia”, “Men In Trees”, “Miss/Guided”, “Notes from the Underbelly”, “October Road”, “Women’s Murder Club” and “Cavemen”.
Drew Barrymore practiced some vigilante justice the other day when her car was rear-ended in West Hollywood. The guy who hit her tried to take off, but she chased after him just long enough to get his license plate number. Police are investigating.
